What size solar system do I need?
The world of solar is not one size fits all. It is important that the right size panel and the right type of inverter is installed to ensure you can maximise the energy generated. At iGenerate we work with you to select the right system for your energy needs. We supply a range of sizes of solar panels, 1.5kW, 3kW and 5kW. We also supply both string inverters and microinverters that connect to your panels.
To fit the right system, iGenerate will take into consideration your current average monthly power bills, plus the average amount of sunlight hours your roof can be exposed to over both summer and winter months. This will ensure the right size panels are installed to maximise the sunlight hours throughout the year. We also take into careful consideration how you use your home or business during the day and make recommendations on how to use appliances in your house to maximise the usage of your free, clean energy. For more information please see our Maximising Solar page.
Do you conduct a site visit prior to installation?
Yes we do. Prior to visiting your home or business, we use our customised software solution that enables us to identify the sunlight hours and any shading issues on your property remotely. We will be able to assess your roof pitch and the most appropriate roof area for the solar system to be installed. Using this software we will be able to provide you with a customised easy quote and recommendation on the size of the system you will require. There will also be a few questions we will need you to answer which of our iGenerate team will take you through by phone.
Once we’ve provide you with this easy quote, one of our specialist install team will visit you on site. This will ensure that we can take a thorough look at your roof, check with you all information is correct, and confirm that our recommendations will suit your site. Any changes to our recommendations can be discussed with you on site along with any information you may require on Council and Utility approvals.

Do I need a storage battery?
With the launch of their Powerwall battery product, Tesla has made some big waves in the solar market. With solar and storage batteries it seems like a marriage made in heaven, producing energy during the day, storing it, and then using it in the evening and during the early morning rush when your family needs it.
Just like you, we are very excited about there now being a combination of solar panels and batteries in the market, which further enhances your investment in solar. We provide a variety of batteries which can be used for peak or load shifting, and batteries that can produce reserve energy to ensure you’re both covered in power cuts as well as storing energy for the evenings and early morning requirements. However, not all customers want to make the additional investment required in purchasing a storage battery, and opt for simply installing solar panels which covers their solar requirements and reduces their power bills significantly.
For more information please visit our Solar Storage page and then call one of our solar experts on 0800 745 400 to see if a storage battery is right for you.
