When will the electric Car make the top ten. Stuff just released NZs top ten selling vehicles.
Following on from the government announcement on electric car incentives I wonder when/if we will see an EV in the top ten. Even without meaningful incentives, still waiting on bus lane access, the numbers of EVs being registered is growing quickly 1700 up from 1000 at the beginning of the year.
I have been driving the work Nissan Leaf for the last couple of months. There is something very satisfying plugging in your car when the solar panels are generating. In the last three months the only time I have gone to the petrol station is to get a pie for lunch when we are doing installs.
So at under $20,000 the leaf is a good work car for the average 28 km Auckland commute but its going to take a few more incentives to outdo the Ford Ranger. The best incentive is of course the positive change for carbon emissions and the 30 cents a litre cost. Although feels free when connected to the solar panels!
